Maestro Mstislav Rostropovich is finally coming
back to his beloved Florence
after a few years since his last visit. The Mayor of Florence
Leonardo Domenici and the Culture Councilor Simone Siliani
have invited the Maestro Mstislav Rostropovich to Florence
in order to award him with the Honorary
Citizenship of Florence. Being in Florence
Maestro Rostropovich has offered to held a Masterclass for
young talented chamber groups with masterpieces composed by
his friends from the past : Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Britten.
The
musical side will be cared by:
- Prof. Luciano
Alberti – who has often invited Rostropovich
either as director and as cellist and pianist when Prof. Alberti,
was Artistic Director of the Teatro Comunale di Firenze and
- “Associazione
Nuovi Eventi Musicali” (“New Music
Events Association”), well known organizer of international
concerts and events where Prof. Luciano Alberti is one of
founder- members.

This important event is realized thanks to the cooperation
with Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation and Vivahotels of Florence,
who are hosting it at the Aditorium
al Duomo, new concert hall and
congress centre realized for Florence.
Auditorium al Duomo is situated only a few steps from Duomo,
with extraordinary acoustics and capacity of 300 people. This
kind of structure, which can receive an elevate number of
people, is very suitable for auditory lessons. Nothing better
could have been realized, considering the fact that Florence
has never had before an auditorium that could have been used
for chamber music.

Fee includes:
2 overnight stay in three and four stars hotel in the centre
of Florence with buffet breakfast; participation as an auditor
in two lessons by Maestro, on the 6th of October in the morning
and on the 7th of October in the morning at the new Auditorium
al Duomo; welcome cocktail; dinner in the first evening, lunch
and dinner of the following day.
The participants of the course can take part at the ceremony
of awarding of the Honorary Citizenship of Florence by the
Mayor of Florence Leonardo Domenici and the Culture Councilor
Simone Siliani. The ceremony will be held at “Salone
dei Cinquecento” in Palazzo Vecchio on the 7th of October
in the afternoon. After the ceremony final concert of the
students of Masterclass will be followed.
